![]() Today I shared some big news with my team: after nine years at Vimeo, I have decided to step down as CEO in the coming months, to take on a new opportunity in a new space. To the Tubi team - I can’t wait to go down this rabbit hole with you, and shape the next generation of entertainment together! □ □ □ I start in September, and will be spending the rest of the summer transitioning Vimeo into very capable hands. Tubi is doing things differently in a space that is being imminently disrupted, and that is my kind of opportunity. I am betting that Tubi can become the destination for the next generation of audiences, who are not only cutting the cord but also spending more of their time on YouTube and TikTok than traditional streaming services. Interestingly, Tubi’s audience is growing the fastest among younger, more diverse viewers and those interested in special-interest verticals. The service has scaled without investing in expensive original content, but rather by amassing the world’s largest library of long-tail movies and TV series, and by applying algorithms and data science to create a more personalized experience.Īnd it’s working - Tubi reaches 64 million monthly active users and recently surpassed HBO Max and Peacock in total TV viewing minutes. Tubi was launched in 2014 by two entrepreneurs, and is today the most watched free ad-supported TV streaming service in the United States. We are witnessing a seismic shift in where and how content will be consumed, and I hope to play a role in shaping the future of entertainment, by giving all people access to all the world's stories. No other medium has the ability to bring stories to life in a deeply personal way, while simultaneously reaching every corner of the globe. Tubi Partners With The Black List On The “To Be Commissioned” Initiative For Aspiring Writers For Tubi’s Original Slate □□ The Black List will be executive producing the films, which should start to hit in 2025.Įxcited to see what projects and voices we discover □□ □□ Tubi will waive submission fees for 200 writers from traditionally underrepresented communities. □□ Writers can submit their screenplays starting today through March 15th. We’re looking for stories that aren’t often told, that deserve to be. Starting today, we’re taking open submissions from Black List writers to commission 5 original films. Tubi’s mission is to provide all people access to all the world’s stories - and that starts with the people behind the screen. I wanted to bring this to your attention to clarify whether it was a deliberate decision or perhaps an oversight. Having experienced various pricing models, it seems unusual for companies to charge more on a monthly basis than for the same plan on annual billing. ![]() Similarly, the starter plan is listed as $20 monthly, while the annual plan is priced at $12 per month. The advanced plan is billed at $65 monthly if purchased annually, but only $55 for monthly billing. On another note, I took a closer look at Vimeo's pricing page, and it appears there might be a discrepancy that caught my attention. I can already imagine the endless possibilities it will offer. Wow! I'm thrilled to hear about the upcoming release of this intriguing tool for content creators.
